Tennis is a huge part of my life and I take great pride in helping my students develop as athletes, tennis players and more importantly, as people. My history with tennis has included a wide range of coaching experiences in Australia and around the world, however it is the present and future which excites me the most. Highlights: Currently one of Australia’s under 12 Talent Development Coaches and have been the QLD Super 10’s Team Coach in the National Finals, which we finished in 2nd place 2013 and again in 2014. Managing the Beenleigh Blaze Pro Tennis Team and we were successful enough to play at Melbourne Park during the Aussie Open 2013. Working for Roy Emerson in Gstaad, Newcombes Ranch in Texas, and Cliff Drysdale in Miami. I love working here because: The people and the tennis. We have everything at BTC. The best staff for every level of training. The best competitions for every level of play. Philosophy: Never be beaten due to a lack of passion, fitness or determination. Everything else can be learnt. When I’m not working I’m wakeboarding, snorkelling, AFL, basically anything outside.

I began playing tennis at 9 years in Coffs Harbour.  As a junior I trained approximately 5 to 6 hours per week (2 squads and a private), played in local comps and Regional NSW tournaments.  I also hit regularly with my older brothers and father, playing at a State Level by the age of 15. Beginning my coaching career in 1997 at Beenleigh I completed my Level 1, 1998 Level 2 and in 2011 Master Club Pro course, Tennis Facility Management. In 2010 I applied for several grants totalling $170,000 for a Club with success, and in 2011 I worked with my coach and Mentor Tony Polack (High Performance Coach).  In 2012 I rejoined the team at the Beenleigh Tennis Club & Northern Gold Coast Tennis Academy,  I am currently a Tennis Australia Cardio Tennis Mentor and the QLD State Coach for Players with an Intellectual Disability.

I started tennis at age 7, continued to play competitive tennis throughout my junior years, representing my home state Tasmania in various state teams and also representing Queensland after moving up here in 2010. I’m very passionate about sport and I’ve completed the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Queensland and my Club Professional Coaching Course. I enjoy playing and spectating many sports but tennis has always been at the top of my list. Most of my best friends and fond memories are gained from being at the tennis courts either training or competing in various tournaments. I love being able to coach juniors and adults through the experience I have gained playing at a high level for many years and the qualifications I now have. I have competed in the Beenleigh Blaze team for the Asia Pacific Tennis League, competing against top athletes from around QLD and in 2013 our team made it to the national final where we played at Melbourne Park during the Australian Open. This achievement was one of the unforgettable moments of my tennis career.
